Pro-D Forms
Teachers ~ Reminder for Provincial/District PD Days:
October & February District PD days are mandatory pro-d days, calculated into your FTE salary. (Part time teachers can 'bank' pd time with PVP permission).
Flex Pro-d (on your own time: weekends, evenings, holidays) is to be paid for part of Spring Break. It is flex pro-d to make up for 10 hours (2 x 5 hour days) = FTE 1.0 teachers (prorate for less FTE).
You must complete the Annual Professional Learning Plan (online see above) and submit a copy to your principal before spring break. The summer flex pro-d day are optional and meant to assist teachers with options for pro-d workshops.
For the October & February Pro-D Days:
1- PD at your school: If a teacher remains at their school/location of work to do pro-d - no form is needed. This includes teachers doing any online workshop as they remain within their regular classroom/work location.
2- PD out of the Comox Valley: If a teacher is going to be out of the Comox Valley school district (Victoria, Vancouver, Nanaimo) to do pro-d, you must put in absence in AMS 'Pro-D Out Of District' with destination & details and have your principal's approval before the trip out of Comox Valley. NIDES distance teachers are an exception, as they already work out of Comox Valley. They simply need to ensure their principal knows what pro-d work they intend to do on Pro-D Day.
3- PD within the Comox Valley, but out of your regular school:
If a teacher is doing pro-d activities outside their school/ regular work location, but within the Comox Valley school district (another school, museum, etc.), they must complete an online self-directed form.
At the bottom of the online form, once you've completed filling out your pro-d plans , you need to copy the self-directed request to your principal (Supervisor) for approval and also your School PD Rep.
